Minutes of the March 29, 2008 meeting in Grand Island

CDO3 Chairman Stoddard called the meeting to order at 11:10 am then made some introductions.

Tom Dorsch, Gage Co. Chair, led the Pledge of Allegiance.

CDO3 Vice Chair, Ramona Kufalk, then took charge of the meeting as Jay Stoddard would be speaking as a candidate.

VChair Kufalk introduced the following candidates and allowed each to speak on their own behalf followed by questions:
Larry Marvin - Candidate for the U.S. Senate
Gary Rasmussen - Candidate for the Nebraska Legislature from LD41
Tony Raimondo - Candidate for the U.S. Senate
Scott Kleeb - Candidate for the U.S. Senate
Paul Spatz  - Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from CD3
Jay Stoddard - Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from CD3

Jeremiah Quintin moved to accept the minutes from the last meeting, Alicia Toczek seconded, motion passed.

CDO3 Treasurer, Marion Bahensky, gave the Treasurer’s report. Donna Anderson moved to accept, Marvin Schiedler seconded, motion passed.

Jan Osten talked about gathering information about upcoming events within the 3rd CD.

Jeremiah Quinten talked about the Veterans’ Caucus and urged all CD3 Veterans to participate in it.

VChr. Kufalk said that Richard Register, Chair of the NDP Platform Committee, was to hold two meetings in the 3rd CD, one in Grand Island, the other in Scottsbluff, to receive input for his committee to take to the upcoming NDP State Convention, which will take place in Fremont between June 20-22.

NDP Finance Director, Clara Blankenbiller, had several comments: she reminded county chairs of the requirements for reporting their county conventions, spoke about the upcoming NDP State Convention, reminded everyone of the Morrison/Exon Dinner and the need for nominations for the awards that would be given during it.

It was decided that the next CDO3 meeting would take place in North Platte on June 31 at the McKinley Education Center.

Nebraska Young Democrats President, Kyle Michaelis, announce that the NYDs would hold their State Convention on Saturday, April 5 in the UNL Student Union. Contact: kyle@nebraskayoungdemocrats.org

CDO3 Secretary, Brian Osborn, spoke briefly about the CD3 Website (http://www.nebraskademocratscd3.org) and solicited input from everyone to make it the best Democratic website we can.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:40 pm.
